THE film's title refers to the utterly camp American writer and the slaying of an innocent family in Kansas in 1959, which gripped the country.
Capote, an odd-looking little fellow, travels to Kansas with childhood friend and fellow writer Harper Lee (Sandra Bullock) to research the murders and write a new kind of non-fiction novel.
Toby Jones is brilliant as Capote, described by a "friend" as resembling a brussel sprout with the voice of a woman.
A surprising bond develops between Capote and one of the killers (Daniel Craig) but it's difficult to sympathise with either man and the film sacrifices style for real substance. Interesting, but not a classic.
