TWO men have been jailed for carrying samurai swords in Great Strand, Barnet.
Xarius Aderian, 18, from Potters Bar, and Nathan Chaffe, 19, from Barnet, were charged with being in possession of an offensive weapon on June 29.
Aderian initially threw one of the knives and ran away from police.
He was then found with a samurai sword hidden in his trouser leg.
Chaffe was also charged for possession of cocaine.
Both were remanded to Hendon Magistrates Court on July 1, where they were sentenced to 6 months and 4 months, respectively.
DS Tom Pearse from the Crime Reduction Unit said: “This is an excellent example of intelligence lead policing by officers from the Crime Reduction Unit, who have since been commended for their efforts.
"Officers are determined to reduce knife crime on the Borough and will continue to adopt a range of tactics to achieve this objective.
