A hairdresser is closing her salon after styling the community’s hair for 38 years.

Carole Barron, 59, ran Robert Barron Hair Salon in High Street in Walthamstow with her husband Robert, who is now deceased.

The mother-of-two is welcoming her customers to the salon for the final time on Saturday July 2 for a goodbye drink.

She said: “It is just to say farewell to all of them and thank them for their support over the years.

“I am going to miss it tremendously because that is all I have ever known, getting up in the morning and going to work and having the social life with all the customers. It has been a lot of fun.

“I am asking the customers to just pop in and out on Saturday.

“All the customers want their hair done on the last day so it’s going to be madness.”

Carole, who has eight grandchildren, said she is looking forward to relaxing once the salon closes.

She said: “I just want to have a rest first and then I will decide what to do. I will take it day by day.”

Carole is forced to close her business due to competition from other hair salons in the area.

She and her late husband Robert opened the salon 38 years ago when their children were young and formed a successful working relationship.

She said: “We worked well together.

“The Waltham Forest Guardian came on the day we opened the salon and took our photo.

“I have wonderful memories there. It is just sad now that it has to close.”

Robert Barron Hair Salon will be open for its final day from 9am until 5pm on Saturday July 2.
