FREE table tennis sessions for the over 50s are now on offer at an Acton sports centre to celebrate the Olympics.

Everyone Active on Acton High Street will be running the classes every Tuesday from 11:30 – 13:00 until September.

Members and non-members are invited to come along and try their hand at the game, with free tea and coffee will also provided.

“We are delighted to be offering these free table tennis sessions to the local population and hope that the classes will give those over 50 the chance to try something different,” said Everyone Active general manager Michael Twiggins.

“As well as helping people to stay active, the sessions also offer the opportunity to meet others in the area in a friendly and welcoming environment.”

Everyone Active Acton is operated by Everyone Active in partnership with Ealing Council.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for transport, environment and leisure, said: “We want everyone to take inspiration from the Olympic athletes and get more active this summer.

“These free table tennis sessions are a fun, challenging way for local people to learn a new sport or improve their game techniques, whatever their ability.”

Table tennis has been part of the Olympic Games since Seoul 1988 and is the most popular racket sport in the world.
