Platform Tottenham

The hidden talent of Tottenham is being showcased in an evening of live performances hosted by two 18-year-old producers and directors from the S&K project. Poetry readings, joke-telling, singing and dancing is combined in show that gives a platform to artists of all genres and disciplines. Even if you’re not a performer, you can still come along to watch an evening of home-grown talent. Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Tottenham Green, N15 4RX, Friday July 1, 6pm.

Tottenham Film Project

The town is being celebrated through film. On Saturday, July 2, at 7pm, there will be a screening of Blink, a series of one-minute films, on any topic, shot by people in Tottenham on their smart phones. There will also be a night of short documentary films made by young Tottenham filmmakers, as part of a long-running project in collaboration with community leader Moussa Amine Sylla. Link Up

Six Royal Court Theatre writers have been paired up with members of the Tottenham community from musicians and community leaders, to local business owners and refugees, to create six original ten-minute performances.

As part of their three-year project to learn about different communities around London, the Royal Court Theatre based in Sloane Square, is keen to discover stories from those who are living the experience in the heart of Tottenham. On Fleek

Royal Court Theatre makers Roy and Corinne have been hanging out in some of Tottenham’s barbershops and nail bars over the past few months, chatting to their regulars about the perceptions of beauty they aspire to and why. Using these they’ve created this short performance, exploring the relationship between appearance, class and identity. The Shipping Container, T Chances Car Park, High Road, N17 6QN, July 15, 4pm.

Schlep with Nick

Discover the previously unheard stories from members of the Jewish communities in Stamford Hill and South Tottenham on a walking tour with live music, which has been organised by writer and performer Nick Cassenbaum. He has spent the past few months gathering stories from conversations in cafes, kitchens and old people’s homes, along with unseen emails, arguments and answerphone messages.
