An electrical fire ripped through a maisonette in Thamesmead.

The blaze broke out in the two-storey property in Coralline Walk yesterday (June 26).

The first floor was badly damaged but one person escaped the flames before fire fighters arrived.

No one was injured.

Fire crews were called at 1.45pm and the fire was under control by 3pm.

A spokesman for London Fire Brigade said: "One person left the property before the brigade arrived and thankfully no injuries were reported.
