Schools across Waltham Forest marked the Queen’s official 90th birthday with a series of celebrations.

On Friday (June 10), schools held parties for pupils and encouraged youngsters to wear red, white and blue.

At George Mitchell Primary, in Leyton, children celebrated with a street party and a picnic, where they sang happy birthday to the monarch.

Primary phase head teacher Helen Williams said: "All the children ate their picnic in the sunshine surrounded by Union Jack bunting.

"Even though we invited the Queen, she couldn't make it today so we all sang happy birthday instead"

South Grove Primary School in Walthamstow also marked the occasion with a party, as well as dressing up in Union Jack colours.
