A man died after suffering a heart attack in the toilets at the YMCA in Hampton last week.

The man, who has not been named, went into the YMCA, also known as the White House, to use the lavatories on Wednesday, May 18.

Staff discovered the man collapsed in the toilet and called London Ambulance Service (LAS) shortly before 7pm, before attempting CPR.

The man was found dead by paramedics, an LAS spokesman said.

Sally Cadle, YMCA manager, said the man was in is 50s and was not a regular user of the YMCA, and that his family was ‘very distressed’.

Mrs Cadle said: “The man was not particularly elderly; he was around 50, in his 50s.

“Our staff tried to revive him with CPR but were unable to.”

The man was believed to be a Hampton resident, and he was a member of All Saints church, Reverend Gareth Wardell said, which is a short walk from the White House.

He said: “Normally in a situation like that I would have offered to say a prayer for the person.

“However by the time I arrived the man had sadly passed away and no family members were present.”
