A TEAM of nine are ready to trek 200 miles in memory of their friend who died from bowel cancer.
Sujan Shah of Buckingham Avenue in Barnet, is one of nine people who will take on the challenge for their friend Nathan Bray who died in 2009.
Since Nathan’s death, Mr Shah has raised more than £43,000 for the charity by climbing 21 peaks in four days and cycling 1,000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats in Scotland.
Mr Shah said: “It’s going to be tough. There’ll be blisters and aching bones but we’re training hard so our legs can take it.”
The group will walk from Cumbria to North Yorkshire over seven days from May 15, and all money raised will go to the Bowel & Cancer Research charity.
One of the friends was Gareth Williams, said: “When Nathan died we pledged to keep his memory alive and this is a good way of doing it. “If Nathan could see us now, he’d just laugh and think we’re crazy but he would have liked the fact that we’ve built such strong friendships.”
The walk starts on May 15, at the Irish Sea at St Bees Head, before crossing the Lake District, to the Pennines and North York Moors, and ending at Robin Hood’s Bay.
