Tributes have been paid to a senior director at Enfield Council who lost his battle with cancer this week.

Neil Isaac, assistant director of economic development and sustainability, died on Wednesday, April 27. He was 51.

Mr Isaac took the economic development post last year, having previously worked in street cleaning and environmental work for the authority, having previously worked for councils in Waltham Forest and Lambeth.

Cllr Doug Taylor, leader of Enfield Council, said: “It was a privilege to work with Neil during his time with the council and he brought drive, enthusiasm and professionalism to everything he did.

“Neil was well-respected in the recycling sector, and universally liked by those he worked with in the council and wider industry.

“He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.”

Cllr Alan Sitkin, cabinet member for economic regeneration, worked closely with Mr Isaac, with both joining the same council department in 2014.

He said: “Not only was Neil an excellent director in the modern mould – entrepreneurial, intelligent, effective and direct – but he was a really nice guy who was great fun to be with, whether down the pub or out playing sports.

“He had a lot of friends among officers and members alike and will be sorely missed.

“After the loss of our dear friend Jeff Rodin, this is the second bit of very bad news we’ve had in April, but in both cases I know they would want us to rejoice in the good and meaningful lives they led.”
