A MAN who claims he was conned into buying second-hand items from a shop is taking them to court.

Alan Brown, of Crossbrook Street, Cheshunt, bought a number of items – including an £800 iPhone – thinking they were brand new at Brighthouse, in Edmonton Green Shopping Centre.

The 64-year-old says he later found documents indicating the phone is second-hand.

He is now taking them to small claims court in April.

Mr Brown said: “The whole thing has made me extremely angry.

“No-one would spend £800 on a second-hand phone or £1,400 on a used TV, it just does not make any sense.”

A spokesman for Brighthouse said: “BrightHouse offers household goods on affordable weekly payments including offering quality refurbished goods at lower prices than brand new items.

“We are committed to giving our customers excellent service. In the event that a customer raises a concern, we always seek to address it as quickly as possible.”
