A teenager recovering from life-saving surgery has met her idol after his music helped her survive terrible illness.

Denisa, 19 from Enfield, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2009 at just 12 years old, and underwent ten hours of surgery and six weeks of intense radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

The treatment left her with slight weakness on the left side of her body, however despite this she is now doing well and is in remission.

Now Denisa has met her idol, Olly Murs, thanks to the Rays of Sunshine children’s charity, after she said he is her favourite pop star and her greatest wish was to meet him.

Meeting at the AMBA Hotel in Charing Cross, London, Denisa told Mr Murs that his song “My Heart Skips a Beat” is her favourite song and it helped her get through her treatment.

Mr Murs, a Rays of Sunshine ambassador since 2012, said “I feel honoured to be someone’s wish, so it’s an absolute pleasure to meet Denisa and her family and spend time getting to know them. I hope to be involved with Rays of Sunshine for many years to come.”

Yibere, Denisa’s mum, said: “We will never forget this experience, we will remember it for the rest of our lives. Denisa was so happy and she really enjoyed the day.”

Olly Murs is supporting the #Kisses4Wishes campaign for Rays of Sunshine this Valentine’s Day, which is encouraging people to post photos of themselves blowing a kiss using the #Kisses4Wishes hashtag and texting ‘KISS03 £3’ to 70070 to donate £3 to the charity.
