Two men have been arrested following the death of a man in a house fire in Keston.

Emergency services attended the fire at a house in Leaves Green Road at about 7am this morning. 

A man, believed to be in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.

A post mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

Two men left before the arrival of the London Fire Brigade (LFB) and one was treated for smoke inhalation by the London Ambulance Service (LAS).

Two men, aged 63 and 64, have also been arrested.

A LAS spokesman said: "We were called at 7.08am to Leaves Green Road to reports of a fire.

"We sent a senior paramedic in a car, an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene.

"Sadly one person was dead at the scene.

"We treated one other person for smoke inhalation and took them to Princess Royal Hospital in Farnborough." 

Half of the first floor was damaged by fire.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters from Biggin Hill, Addington and Bromley fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 6.53am and the fire was under control at 8.20am. 

At this early stage, and while the cause of the fire is still under investigation by LFB investigators and police forensics officers, the fire is being treated as unexplained.

Enquiries by Bromley Borough officers continue.
