WITH the festive season now a fading memory, people are being encouraged to recycle their Christmas trees.
Barnet Council will collect real trees placed next to green bins on collection days, which will be turned into compost. People are asked to break large trees in half, if possible.
They can also be taken to the Reuse and Recycling Centre in Summers Lane, North Finchley.
Councillor Dean Cohen, chairman of the environment committee, said: “I hope every resident had a happy and restful break and I want to wish them a Happy New Year.
"Many families will be clearing up after the festivities and hopefully this service will make things easier.”
