A Worcester Park man who crashed his BMW into another car before careering into a lamppost and destroying a postbox in Weybridge before Christmas has pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Harry Sullivan, 23, of St Philip’s Avenue, crashed in Brooklands Road at about 1.30am on December 12.

Surrey Police said Sullivan, who was almost three times over the drink drive limit, hit a parked car with such force it was propelled 30 metres down the road.

He pleaded guilty to drink driving at Staines Magistrates’ Court on December 30 and was banned from driving for two years.

Sullivan will also have to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £145 in costs.

Surrey Police released photos of the accident that completely destroyed two cars on social media to warn people of the dangers of drink driving. One tweet read: "The driver of this BMW is in custody sobering up. He'll be charged later for drink drive. Lucky it's not worse.”
