Police have released CCTV after an armed gang assaulted a 23-year-old man in Woolwich leaving him with 11 stitches.

On Wednesday October 28 officers on patrol were made aware of a fight going on in Morgramit Square by members of the public.

They found a 23-year-old next to some garages on Hare Street with head and leg wounds around 3pm.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) treated the man and took him to a south London hospital.

He required nine stitches to his head above his right eye, and two to the cuts on his leg.

Two of the gang were spotted carrying large knives.

With their hoods up, they chased him down in the street before punching and kicking him to the ground.

The four were latter spotted on another camera getting into a lift – re-enacting the fight as they waited for the doors to open.

The first suspect is described as a black man with short black hair, wearing dark coloured trousers and a black jacket.

The second is an eastern European man who was spotted with a large knife. He has short black hair, wearing a Nike tracksuit with stripes down the side.

The third man is also eastern European with short black hair, but was wearing blue jeans, a dark Nike tracksuit top also with white stripes down the arms.

The fourth suspect is described as a black teenager who was also seen carrying a knife. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket and trousers and seen riding a bike.
