A man who stole £932.91 of stock from Superdry and John Lewis in Kingston town centre is behind bars after CCTV footage managed to identify him.

The thefts took place over a two-month period in September and October, but the thief was not caught at the time.

Damon Offield, 21, of Charter Square, Kingston, was arrested on October 20, when he walked past a police car.

Offield appeared on October 25, at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court and had denied three counts of theft but was found guilty after a trial.

He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison and ordered to pay a fine of £360.

PC Dan Bowyer from Kingston police, said: "The effective use of CCTV and officers with local knowledge has once again proven to be very effective and has brought another prolific offender to justice."
