A pan left unattended on the hob filled a house with smoke before firefighters were called.
Crews from Epsom and Surbiton were called to the house in Church Lane, Chessington, at about 8.30pm on Wednesday, October 28.
A spokesman from Surbiton fire station said: “No one was in and the fire alarm went off and the neighbour, who was related, went round and opened the door and took the pan off.
“When the person came back we turned up and put a big fan in the doorway to blow out the smoke.”
