A CHARITY radio station that works with Harrow’s youth population has been honored with a £1,500 award.

Radio Harrow has picked up a £1,500 award from the Jack Petchey Foundation in recognition of its work with young people.

The Jack Petchey Crystal Awards, held at City Hall in London, marked the 15th anniversary of the Jack Petchey Foundation and the milestone of having given £100m to youth projects in London and Essex.

Keith Chilvers, a trustee at Radio Harrow who introduced the Jack Petchey Foundation Bronze Awards Scheme to the station seven years ago, attended the ceremony and collected the award.

He said: “To be invited to any awards ceremony is good but to be specially selected from an elite group of 150 is very special.

“The scheme is something I’m very proud of as it recognizes the achievement of our young volunteers and has also helped us raise £6,000 since we started.”
