TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp will pay a visit to pupils and staff at a Sydenham school in aid of Stand Up to Cancer.

The face of Location, Location and Location will join students at Sydenham High School in Westwood Hill for fundraising activities tomorrow (October 9).

Miss Allsopp will speak at assembly, help students prepare cakes for a lunchtime bake sale and visit a Year 11 science class studying the biology of cancer cells.

More than 600 pupils and 150 staff are taking part to raise money for the Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 campaign.

Headteacher Kathryn Pullen said: “Most of us know someone who has been touched by cancer and we all have our special reasons for taking part.”

The Kirstie’s Homemade Home star is also popping over to Beckenham to help out at a yard sale fundraiser.

Organised by Mary Jones and other members of the West Wickham and Hayes Cancer Research UK fundraising committee, visitors can buy pre-loved treasures, including books, furniture, toys, bric-a-brac and branded Stand Up To Cancer items.

Miss Allsopp, who has lost her mum and other family members to cancer, said: “The more cash we raise, the faster we can get cancer treatments to the people who really need them.”

“I hope this inspires people to find their own exciting way to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.”

Mrs Jones is hosting the sale at her home, 2 Highland Croft, tomorrow. It is open to the public and free to enter from 9.30am to 1pm.
