ROYALTY will cross the threshold of a college this weekend as Prince William and Kate Middleton visit a mental health charity.

Harrow College will welcome the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as the Royal visitors join the mental health charity Mind in Harrow on Saturday, October 10 to celebrate World Mental Health Day.

The Duke and Duchess will meet young people who have battled their own mental health problems and now volunteer with Mind in Harrow or the anti-stigma campaign Time to Change, which aims to raise awareness about mental health with other young people.

Paul Farmer, CEO of Mind, said: “We are delighted that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be joining Mind to celebrate this year’s World Mental Health Day.

“Their support will shine a spotlight on mental health and we hope it will spark conversations in households across the country, amplifying the vital message that it’s time to talk about mental health.

“We hope it will encourage people to think about the little things we can all do to make a difference to anyone experiencing a mental health problem.”

Work to build awareness and understanding of mental health problems is a major priority for both The Duke and Duchess.

The Duke recently took part in an anti-bullying workshop run by the Diana Awards charity, and the Duchess visited the Anna Freud Centre in London to continue her work on the mental health of children.

Harrow College works closely with Mind in Harrow on a number of initiatives and activities to support students and offer learners a counselling and mentoring service throughout the academic year.

Pat Carvalho, head at Harrow College, said: “I am delighted the College has been chosen to host this event and promote Mind’s campaign.

“There are increased pressures on young people and it’s important that we provide them with the right guidance, support and environment to enable them to reach their potential and be successful”.
