An Orpington driver responsible for a Christmas Day crash, which left three people with life threatening injuries, has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.

Jason Peachey, 22, formerly of Leesons Hill in Orpington, crashed his car into an oncoming vehicle in Sutton Road, Maidstone on December 25 last year.

He had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of causing injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at an accident and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court yesterday (Monday, October 5).

Witnesses reported seeing Peachey travelling well over the 30mph speed limit shortly before the crash happened.

Peachey was also banned from driving for four years and three months.

Investigating officer PC Guy Ditcher, from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "The impact of this crash, caused by Peachey’s reckless driving, was huge and it’s fortunate that there were no fatalities.

"His driving was completely irresponsible and has had a devastating impact on the victims of this crime.

"I would like to thank them for their help in bringing this man to justice. The roads are safer with men like this off them and I welcome the driving ban on top of his prison sentence."
