With the Government's decision on expanding Heathrow imminent, a public meeting is set to be held in Richmond.

The Richmond Society is holding a forum meeting for the facts surrounding a new runway to be debated, with the Richmond Heathrow Campaign outlining its key plans.

The campaign group's chairman Peter Willan said he challenges supporters of the third runway to join the debate "before it is too late".

He said: "More than 20 per cent of the new runway capacity would be used for an extra 22 million international to international transfers a year, providing little economic value to the UK, as these passengers do not step outside the airport.

"They contribute to the noise, are exempt from aviation tax and use valuable capacity at the expense of UK passengers."

The meeting will be held on Thursday at 7.45pm at the Duke Street Church in Richmond.

Entry is free to Richmond Society members and £2 for non-members.
