A moped “blew up” near a Kingston supermarket after a crash with a car last night.
Police and fire crews were called to the accident near Asda in London Road just after 9pm.
Rhianna Price, 20, was on her way home to Raynes Park on the 57 bus that was terminated just outside Wickes as the bike in flames was being hosed down.
She said: “The bike was in flames – it was orange and after there was lots of smoke.
“There were two fire engines and three or four police cars as well.”
What was left of the moped was reportedly still in the street with "health hazard" tape on it this morning.
A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “We were called there at 9.20pm to a collision between a moped and a car.
“The moped was then on fire. No one was injured.”
No arrests were made and police said they were still investigating the cause of the crash.
