Heavy flooding has caused traffic delays and rail disruption across Barnet this afternoon.

The A41 Hendon Way northbound is blocked by Brent Cross, with traffic queues back to Finchley Road station. Number 113 buses are being diverted along Cricklewood Lane.

Transport for London tweeted that flooding is also affecting the eastbound A406 North Circular Road at Colney Hatch Lane, with traffic tailing back to Finchley High Road.

And Thameslink has said that flooding between Radlett and West Hampstead is causing delays of up to 25 minutes to journeys between Luton and London St Pancras, affecting stations at Cricklewood, Hendon and Mill Hill Broadway.

Flood warnings have also been issued around Colindale and Edgware, as the Silkstream has risen quickly and has burst its banks in several places.

London Fire Brigade said it had received more than 80 flood-related calls by 3.30pm, with the highest volume of calls from north London, including calls to people trapped in cars and underpasses.

A spokesman from the London Fire Brigade’s control office said: “We are experiencing an extremely high volume of calls. If you’re waiting to be rescued, please remain calm, firefighters will be with you as soon as they’re able to.”
