Olympic medallist Beth Tweddle inspired gymnastic hopefuls at a Bucks school this week with two workshops before presenting prizes at their annual awards.

The 30-year-old former World and European champion - who took bronze at the London 2012 games - puts youngsters through their paces at Dr Challoner's High School in Little Chalfont on Wednesday.

She led a class of 180 youngsters before doing a separate workshop for members of the gymnastics clubs at the Cokes Lane school and the Chiltern Hills Academy.

Later in the day she presented prizes at the school's annual sports awards.

Kate Chaplin, gymnastics organiser at Dr Challoner's, said: "We wanted to invite somebody we hope will inspire the girls. She does an awful lot of work to promote grassroots gymnastics, and using her experience to promote it to young people.

"She's very passionate about children trying things - she became a gymnast when someone said to her parents she had a lot of energy and should do something to channel it."
