The video here shares the joyful moment a terrified cat was saved from a nasty end when she got dangerously stranded on the busy Hammersmith Flyover – possibly after being thrown from a car.

Workers from nearby lettings agency Folio London saw the abandoned moggy perilously close to the edge of the elevated section of road and seemingly about to fall off.

Leon Gaskin with co-workers Sara Persad and Breda O' Mahony drove on to the bridge and managed to pick the animal up before putting her into a box.

Their efforts were filmed by colleagues, who clapped and cheered when the rescue was complete.

Leon said: “When we saw the cat in such a dangerous situation we knew she needed to be rescued quickly before she fell or was hit by a car.

“We were worried we might scare her when we got up there but luckily she was happy to come with us.

“We don’t know how she would have got up there on her own, so perhaps someone put her there.”

The cat, who has since been named Bridget by vets because of where she was found, was taken to the Blue Cross charity’s animal hospital in Victoria.

She is now recovering after being treated for a grazed and bloodied chin.

It is feared she was deliberately thrown onto the road from a car.

Mark Bossley, chief vet at Blue Cross in Victoria, said; “Bridget is very lucky to have been spotted in time. It could have been so much worse.

“Bridget is a friendly and trusting little cat, who thankfully has survived her terrifying ordeal pretty much unscathed.”
