The new splash pad is ready for summer fun after being opened by the mayor.

The new pad at Hersham Recreation Ground is made up of seven water features and is for children 12 years old and younger.

Councillor Jan Fuller, mayor of Elmbridge, will open the play area on Tuesday, July 14.

Although the splash pad is running now after some tweaks to the automatic sensors and water tank. The pad will save energy as it will only be activated when people stand the activation pads.

Councillor Mary Sheldon, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: "As the summer is upon us and the weather gets warmer, the Hersham splash pad is the ideal place for the children to keep cool and have fun.

"It allows them to get drenched and burn energy splashing about. I hope local families make full use of this new facility.

"It is also a great place for them to meet with friends and spend time enjoying their local recreation ground."
