The 30ft jet of water has caused chaos and drivers are being advised to avoid the area.
A Thames Water spokesman said: “We know this is the perfect day for a new water feature however we’re sending out an engineer to see what’s happened and to try and get the water under control as soon as possible.”
The spokesman later added: “We’re sorry to anyone affected by the burst pipe. Our engineers are there and planning how best to stop the flow of water with minimal disruption to our customers’ supply. We’ll do all we can to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
