TV star Dennis Waterman is appealing for donations of auction items at a charity fundraiser in memory of his friend, actor Warren Clarke.

The pair ran a celebrity golf day to raise money for the Helen and Douglas House charity in each of the last three years.

Another event is planned for September and will be the last one to be held as a tribute to Beaconsfield resident Mr Clarke, who died in November at the age of 67 following a short illness.

Former 'Minder' star Mr Waterman said: "This year’s golf day is particularly special because it is to remember my great friend Warren Clarke, who was a great golfer and supporter of Helen and Douglas House.

"He visited the hospice and was very touched by the amazing work they do to support families with children and young adults with terminal illnesses living in Buckinghamshire. We want to raise as much money as possible at this year’s golf day as a tribute to Warren so we are appealing for any donations of items for the auction."

Janet Carruzzo, community fundraiser at Helen and Douglas House, said "Warren was such a wonderful man and such a great supporter of our charity. As a charity we rely almost entirely on donations to support our families and we cannot do this without fundraising events like these, so we are so grateful to Dennis and Warren for hosting these celebrity golf days in aid of us."

The past three Clarke Waterman Celebrity Golf Days have raised a combined total of £35,000 for Helen and Douglas House.

This year's event will take place at the Bicester Hotel Golf and Spa club on Friday, September 4. Each team of three players will be joined by a celebrity guest on the par 71 course.
