Part of the M25 at Upminster was closed due to a lorry crash and fire that has sent smoking blowing across the motorway.
The lorry’s 45-foot-long trailer carrying a load of cheese was destroyed in the blaze.
London Fire Brigade is tackling the blaze in St Mary’s Lane, Upminster, close to the M25.
Smoke from the blaze affected the M25 between junctions 30 and 29 northbound, which was closed in both directions at the height of the fire.
There is still heavy traffic but alll lanes of the motorway have reopened.
London Fire Brigade was called at 11.45am and the fire was under control at 1.25pm.
According to reports, the lorry crashed on a bridge last night before falling on to an embankment below.
