A train passenger died after being taken ill at Slade Green station yesterday evening (June 18).

The incident happened at around 5.30pm, causing severe delays on the Bexleyheath train line into London.

A woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her cause of death has not been confirmed but the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Next of kin have been informed.

A Southeastern spokesman said their thoughts were with the woman's family.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Our officers were called to Slade Green station on Thursday, June 18, to reports of a person unwell on board a train.

"The call came into police shortly before 6pm.

"Officers attended and assisted colleagues from the ambulance service, but sadly a woman was pronounced dead.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

"The woman’s family have been told of her death and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
