A mysterious vigilante dubbed the ‘Bromley Batman’ has issued a warning to criminals asking them to “think twice” before they act.

The anonymous crime-fighter first made headlines after he allegedly rescued a city worker from a knife-gang mugging in Bromley last Monday (June 8), the Evening Standard reported.

Two more people later told the paper they had seen the masked crusader, who says he prefers to be called ‘The Shadow’, in action in Lewisham and nearby Penge.

The bearded hero, who began his war on crime three years ago, told News Shopper he would like to deliver a message to potential criminals across the globe.

“I ask you to think twice before you impact on someone’s life,” he wrote from an anonymous email account.

“You don't only mentally or sometimes physically scar the person for life but you also impact on families and loved ones.”

‘The Shadow’, who allegedly rescued a woman from a ‘growling’ mugger at Lewisham DLR station, hopes his story will inspire others to stop and help when they see someone in need.

He said: “With my story now seeming to have travelled the world, I am now starting to see some positives coming out of it, one being that people know someone is looking out for them.

“And I hope to inspire people to stop being bystanders when people need help in desperate situations.

“Some people still ignore crime in fear of repercussions but there really is nothing to stop someone from calling the police and remaining anonymous.

On Tuesday, a fourth person named Ian claimed they had been rescued by the mystery protector around 10 weeks ago in Chinatown shortly after rush hour.

But ‘The Shadow’ denied he was Ian’s rescuer saying: “I haven’t been to Chinatown for a long time and the last time I did was to eat and then catch a show.”
