The body found outside a block of flats near Clapham South Tube has been identified locally as a 28-year-old engineer who slipped and fell.
Touching: People left kind thoughts for the man, said to be Patrick Burns
The body, thought to be Patrick Burns, was found in Hazelbourne Road, Clapham, at 2pm on Friday, June 6. Flowers and a photograph were placed at the scene.
A spokesman confirmed the police presence on the day was to deal with an unexplained death, after witnesses reported seeing a forensics investigation.
A neighbour to the flats told the Evening Standard police told them they thought he had slipped and fallen.
Mr Burns was a former student at the College of North-west London. He was most recently working as director at ACRM Services limited.
A message left outside the flats said: "You were always a true gent. We need more Paddies in this world."
Another said: "Words can't describe how sad I am. You were a true inspiration, so driven and your spirit lit up a room. Love you forever."
A postmortem examination took place on June 7, and gave the cause of death as severe head injuries consistent with a fall from height.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
