An entrepreneur who offered to buy Epsom Hospital is among those recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Adrian White CBE, founder of global water treatment and supply company Biwater, has been knighted for services to international trade and investment.

In 2006, Mr White, a multimillionaire businessman who owns Denbies, the UK’s largest vineyard, in Dorking, offered to buy the site of Epsom Hospital.

He wanted his charity, The Denbies Hospital Trust, to buy the buildings for £30m and invest a further £80m to create an NHS and private centre of excellence, after the hospital trust announced it was to close a quarter of its beds and axe 480 jobs.

Judy Baker, from Ashtead, has been awarded an OBE for services to the development of cyber skills.

Mrs Baker founded Cyber Security Challenge UK in 2010, which runs a series of national competitions and learning programmes designed to inspire more people to become cyber security professionals.

Harris Bokhari, from Epsom, has also been given an OBE for services to young people and interfaith work.

With his sister Hina Bokhari, Mr Bokhari founded the Naz Legacy Foundation, in honour of their father Nawazish Bokhari, a campaigner who was the first British Muslim to run a secondary school in the country.

The foundation aims to continue his work inspiring young people to achieve their potential, promote excellence in education and programmes spearheading integration.

Peter Chapman, from Tadworth, has been awarded an MBE for services to St Paul’s Cathedral and to charity work in London.

A former chorister who sang at the Queen’s Coronation service in 1953, Mr Chapman was the first lay canon at the cathedral.

John Isaac, from Worcester Park, receives an OBE for services to border security.

And the Chief Constable of Surrey police, Lynne Owens, has been awarded a CBE for her services to policing and criminal justice.

She said: "I confess to being completely gobsmacked.

"Of course I am honoured to receive such recognition but it more widely reflects the many absolutely outstanding officers and staff I have been privileged to work alongside during my police service."
