An off-duty policeman caught four men breaking into a building on a hospital site yesterday.

Police went to West Park Hospital, in Horton Lane, Epsom, after an off-duty Sussex police officer saw four men breaking into a disused building.

Four men were arrested at the scene.

A 19-year-old from Worcester Park, an 18-year-old from Epsom, and a 19-year-old from Sutton were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

A 19-year-old from Epsom was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of cannabis.

PC Henthorne said: "Thanks to the quick-thinking of the off-duty police officer and rapid response of officers to the scene these men were caught almost immediately and their actions led to four imminent arrests."
