As part of the inaugural Formula E weekend, free tickets are available to watch the electric car race in Battersea Park.

Wandsworth Times:

They're off: Thousands of tickets will go to local people

Those who live near the park, including people from the Doddington, Ethelburga and Latchmere housing estates, pupils at schools in the area and some charities, will make up the 2,000 complimentary tickets.

The two races on the 1.8 mile circuit around the park's perimeter road will mark the end of the current championship season, which has seen drivers compete in Berlin, Beijing, Buenos Aires, Moscow, Miami and Monaco.

The cars use technology which produces almost no noise and emissions. Staging the races in Battersea Park will make an estimated £1m available in the next five years to improve the park and pay ongoing maintenance costs.

Councillor Jonathan Cook said: "We believe this will be a great sporting event and we want the maximum number of local people to attend and enjoy this historic occasion."
