Tickets for London’s New Year fireworks will cost £10 per person, with a limited number going on sale next month.

The celebration will be ticketed for the second year running after a successful trial in 2014.

Some tickets will be released on June 19, but most will be available in September.

Ticketing was brought in last year to help manage ever-increasing numbers heading into central London for the fireworks.

Crowds had swelled to more than 500,000 in 2013, around five times the number of people wanting to watch the display at the London Eye back in 2003.

This was leading to fears about emergency services responding to major incidents, and also leaving many people disappointed due to not being able to see the event.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: 'We are planning another stunning display to celebrate New Year and showcase London around the world.

“As in 2014 you will need a ticket, as part of our efforts to ensure the event is as safe as possible, but even if you do not have one there will be plenty of fantastic celebrations going on across the capital to help non-ticketholders bring in 2016 with a bang.”
