A house in Pinner, north-west London, was badly damaged when fire broke out after a suspected lightning strike.
Firefighters were called to the house in Norman Crescent shortly after 1.30pm.
Half of the first floor was damaged and the roof was destroyed by the blaze.
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters attended the incident.
The fire was under control at 3.10pm.
