A Weybridge man is one of the winners of the first BBC Surrey spring photography competition.

The "Surrey in the spring-time" competition asked listeners to send in photos and John Stather was one of three winners.

His shot of a flock of gleaming sheep herded by a farmer and his dog through lush green fields caught the eye of judges.

The panel comprised of BBC Surrey editor Sara David, County Border news editor/photographer Kevin Black and photographer/tutor John Cole.

Mr Black said: "I was delighted to be asked to be a judge for the photography and was even more elated when I saw the very high standard of entries. I'm convinced that the judges reached the correct conclusion although it was very difficult to choose winners."

Mark Carter, BBC Surrey assistant editor, added: "These days, most people have access to a camera on their phone, and our judges were asked to focus on the nature of the image captured, rather than the number of megapixels."
