Fancy walking the 215 miles of the River Thames' length but don't have the time? Here's how to do it in just 100 steps.

It involves a visit to the Sea Life London Aquarium's revamped Thames Walk area that opens on May 23.

The new zone will allow visitors to discover the hidden world of hundreds of creatures and freshwater plants, all living just feet away from them in the river.

Guests entering the new zone will be taken through the history of the river from the ‘Great Stink’ of the Victorian era to the cityscape of modern times, spotting an array of British creatures along the way.

This Is Local London:

See the copper-coloured rudd, the striking striped perch and the grayling with its mohican-like dorsal fin, all of them swimming alongside interactive features and fun facts.

In partnership with the Thames Tideway Tunnel super-sewer project, the exhibit explains the current pollution levels of the river and how the human population is affecting the ecosystem.

Families can enter a virtual reality walk along the river bed of what is hoped will be the clean Thames of the future, interacting with its inquisitive (digital) residents.
