An actor who has worked with Robert De Niro has spoken of his excitement at his recent work reaching number one in America.

Dan Cade, who grew up in Brook Avenue, Edgware, stars as a Roman general in NBC series ‘A.D. The Bible Continues’, which launched on Easter Sunday in the US and went straight to the top of the viewing charts.

Mr Cade, a former Mill Hill County student, spent several months filming the programme in Morocco, which he described as “amazing”.

The 33-year-old, who lives in Bushey, said: “It was exciting. I was on big, epic sets in the middle of the Sahara desert. The scenery was incredible, it was really authentic. It was a great experience.”

A keen martial arts student, Mr Cade initially had ambitions to be an action star, before deciding to go down the straight acting route.

He has played a wide range of roles, and starred in 2013 film The Family with Robert de Niro, who gave him some tips.

Mr Cade said: “It’s very exciting, you get to travel the world and experience different locations and sets. It’s a glamorous life. Working alongside De Niro was great, it was a surreal experience. He gave me a bit of guidance on the techniques. It was amazing to get that from the best in the world.”

The actor, whose family still lives in Edgware, says he has a couple of things in the pipeline over the next few months, and hopes to get more established so he can work on his own projects.

Asked for his tips on getting into acting, he said: “I would advise anyone who wants to be a straight actor to go to drama school, that’s the best way in.”

He added that it still felt "surreal" to watch himself on screen with his family and friends.
