Special Olympics athletes got a £250 boost and a pledge of more to come from workers at a new Domino's pizza store in Chiswick.

Opening the store, owner Sarmad Shakarchi left the ribbon-cutting to local athletes while he gave a cheque to Special Olympics Great Britain (Sogb), a nationwide charity backed by Domino's.

Sogb provides opportunities for people with learning disabilities to have greater access to year-round sports training and competition.

Mr Shakarchi said: "We're all really excited about supporting Sogb and can't wait to get stuck into a slice of fundraising action."

Staff also promised to take part in various fund-raising events throughout the year in aid of the charity.

Sogb's Karen Linnane said: "We are delighted that Domino's Pizza in Chiswick is raising vital funds to support the development of talented local athletes. Money raised by Domino's will go towards helping talented athletes realise their dream."

The new store is located at 317 Chiswick High Road.
