A group of herons have been spotted heading to KFC in Thamesmead, presumably in search of a bargain bucket.

The long-legged birds were photographed in Cannon Retail Park by Paul Anderson, from Abbey Wood, who told News Shopper: "I took these pictures in Thamesmead of some large birds that suddenly appeared out of nowhere and seemed to be making their way across the zebra crossing towards the KFC of all places.

"They were making a hell of a noise too.

"Everyone was like 'what on earth is going on, where did they come from?'"

Mr Anderson also captured one of the Ardea cinerea taking an interest in a silver Renault Clio, while another appears to be making its way to Morrisons, perhaps to sample their healthy range, NuMe.
