Police are investigating a suspected arson in Talehangers Close, Bexleyheath, which caused a nearby Toby Carvery to be evacuated.

The incident occurred at around 6.30pm on Saturday (March 14).

Officers on patrol came across a large wooden bin and bike shed alight between Talehangers Close and the Toby Carvery in Crook Log. 

The flats in Talehangers Close and the staff and customers at the Toby Carvery had to be evacuated while firefighters brought the blaze under control.

The shed suffered severe damage, and the flats and Toby Carvery suffered mild fire damage.

No arrests were made and enquiries continue.

A spokeswoman for Toby Carvery said: "As a precaution we evacuated the restaurant on Saturday evening to ensure our guests and team were safe. 

"We were able to go back into the business around 30 minutes later and continued to trade as normal for the rest of the evening."
