A woman is setting out to walk 100km in less than a day in memory of her mother.

Sutha Mohanadas, of Pinner, will walk 100km from London to Brighton in 24 hours in memory of her mother, Indra Mohanadas, who was looked after by St Luke’s Hospice last year.

She hopes to raise £475, and has already smashed her target with a total of more than £1,700 already donated to the cause.

The national 24 hour challenge will take place from May 23 to 24.

Ms Mohanadas said: “The hospice was incredible in looking after my mum during her time here. Whilst these were the toughest few weeks we had to face as a family, their friendly nature, genuine care and commitment in looking after my mum is something I will never forget, and will forever be indebted to them for.

“I asked my mum before she passed away to give me some advice that I could keep with me. She said that I had to do a service to help people wherever I could. Mum also wished that she could have done more to help those in need.

“So in honour of my beautiful, sweet and kind mum, who was also known as Amma, I hope that the money I raise, will continue to support St Luke’s in delivering their care, to all those who rely on their wonderful services.”
