The London Overground will be transported back in time tomorrow as a steam train chugs through Haringey.

The Mayflower will run the length of the Barking to Gospel Oak railway line, puffing its way through three stations in the borough along the route, South Tottenham at 8.44am, Haringey Green Lanes at 8.48am and Crouch Hill at 8.50am.

The Barking to Gospel Oak Rail User Group secretary Glenn Wallis said: "It is a bit early for a Saturday morning, but I thought many who use the line or live near it might like to watch the train pass from the lineside.

“Young children are bound to find seeing the train exciting, after all "Mayflower" does look a lot like "Thomas" the tank engine's friend "Henry the Green Engine."
