Snoopy the horse, who is lucky to be alive after becoming submerged in deep marsh water in Erith last week, has made a full recovery.

The 13-year-old came close to drowning on January 28 when he spent the night up to his neck in thick, muddy water, off Moat Lane, after escaping from a nearby field.

Fortunately fire crews from Bexley and Dagenham came to his rescue, using mud paths and harnesses, after he was discovered at around 10am the next day.

He was pulled from the water at around noon, when he was checked over by a vet.

Snoopy is rescued by fire fighters last month

His owner of nine years, Kelly Foster, of Crossway, Thamesmead, told News Shopper that Snoopy has improved a lot since the incident.

The 38-year-old said: "He's had a very sore neck from holding his head so high while he was in the water.

"He couldn't bend down at all when he came out. Now he can - he's much better.

"I let him out in the field for the first time since the accident on Sunday and he seemed happy.

"He had a run around and a roll.

"He's so lucky he even survived what happened, but he did."

She added that Snoopy enjoys nothing more than running in his field and munching on an extra strong mint.
