Two men have been seriously injured in a crash in London Road, Swanscombe.

Kent Police were called at 10.30pm last night (February 5) to the incident after it was reported a car had overturned.

Two men were taken to hospital with serious injuries, while three other people were treated for minor injuries.

Kent Fire and Rescue say one of the men, believed to be in his 60s, was rescued by firefighters using winches and hydraulic cutting gear after the vehicle left the carriageway and ended up 15 meters into a ditch.

Crews used safe access equipment to stabilise the vehicle and gave first aid to the casualty, before creating space for paramedics to gain access.

The casualty was then transferred to a waiting ambulance for further treatment.

Police are trying to locate the driver of the vehicle, who is believed to have left the scene.

The road was closed between Knockhall Road and Craylands Lane while officers investigated.
