As weeks go, it has been pretty much same old, same old.

I have not worked, done anything remotely exciting or even heard any news on the grapevine.

It has mainly consisted of me washing clothes, cooking, putting toys away, vacuuming and then watching the little ones throw crumbs all over the floor again.

It goes without saying there was the obligatory running around like a lunatic to entertain them, too. This was all happening while Michael and I were on a week’s detox (trust me it was difficult, especially as we still have an overspill of goodies in the cupboard from Christmas).

Somehow, I still managed to find time to wish my granny a happy 82nd birthday and get my VAT receipts completed and posted out on time.

So I apologise for not having anything particularly exciting to tell you.

I have, however, been looking forward to this coming Friday evening.

Michael and I are having our first Mr and Mrs night of the year. One of our resolutions for 2015 is to spend more quality time together, especially as the children are getting more self-sufficient.

We have made it quite official too – the nights are protected in the diary, so even if a better offer comes along, it is simply tough luck.

So all week I have been thinking about what I am going to wear. I have decided I may even slap on full makeup and feel like a teenager going out on a first date – basically an effort is going to be made.

Now, you may be reading this thinking I have lost my mind, but it can be so easy to get into a rut in a relationship and not bother at all.

Some days, I look at myself in the mirror and laugh at how I have not combed my hair, am still in my bed clothes, and it’s four in the afternoon.

So, here’s to Friday and a night on the London tiles.
